UN fears mass-electronic surveillance during Myanmar vote

The UN has warned that Myanmar’s December 28 election under military rule cannot be free or fair. The military junta continues to suppress participation, exclude opposition parties and minority groups, and is likely to use AI-based electronic surveillance to monitor voters. Observers say the vote is a façade to maintain military control, with civilians at risk of intimidation and violence from both the junta and resistance forces.
