After the military regime’s sham election, a group that included candidates from the People’s Pioneer Party was dissolved, prompting criticism of the party leadership from one of its defeated candidates. U Aye Cho Oo, who ran as a People’s Pioneer Party candidate for the Tamwe Township seat in the Pyithu Hluttaw, publicly criticized the party’s leaders through a post on his social media account. In his statement, he also said that the party chairperson, Daw Thet Thet Khine, is currently unable to carry out her party responsibilities.
