In Tan Ta Pin town, Bago Region, the General Administration Department (GAD) office was hit by a drone-dropped bomb earlier this morning, resulting in the death of a district-level official and serious injuries to a member of the election commission, according to ground sources. The deceased was identified as an Assistant Director from the District General Administration Department, while a member of the District Election Commission sustained severe leg injuries after being hit by bomb shrapnel. According to a BBC source close to the township administration, Tan Ta Pin Township—where elections are being held—has experienced at least three drone bomb attacks in a single day. “From early morning until now, there have been about three drone bomb attacks,” the source said. Despite these attacks, the source added that election authorities are continuing efforts to ensure the election proceeds successfully, as the polling stations are approaching closing time. So far, there has been no official announcement regarding which group carried out the attack.
