This dashboard tracks the regime’s escalating use of the Election Protection Law, highlighting trends in arrests, charges, and sentencing related to election-related expression. It provides a clear picture of emerging human rights violations, patterns of repression, and the communities most affected.
Myanmar’s military regime enacted a new Election Protection Law in July, criminalizing criticism of its planned 2025–26 elections, which begin on 28 December 2025 and continue into January 2026. The law carries severe penalties, ranging from a minimum of three years in prison to the death penalty.
The dataset is compiled from multiple news sources, carefully reviewed and coded by the Data Team. Limited access to reliable reporting, especially in conflict-affected areas, means some events may not be captured.
The dashboard is designed to support journalists, human rights defenders, atrocity-documentation groups, and the broader public by offering a consolidated, visual overview of the regime’s actions. While based on the best available information, the dataset is not exhaustive and should be interpreted with caution. For feedback or inquiries, please contact us at data@dvb.no.
